3 beer festivals hit Chicago this weekend.
While we can’t guarantee 70-degree weather this weekend, there’s a good chance of beer. Chicago will play host to three brew-centric fests this weekend: Day of the Living Ales at Bottom Lounge, Windy City Brewhaha at Revel Fulton Market and Chicago Beer Festival at the Field Museum. Each festival offers its own spin on the city’s beverage of choice. Here’s a look at what to expect at each:
Sample cask-conditioned beers at Day of the Living Ales
Perfect for the advanced beer geek, Day of the Living Ales is hosted by the Chicago Beer Society and specializes in cask-conditioned ales from Chicagoland breweries such as Alarmist Brewing, Cruz Blanca Brewery and Solemn Oath Brewery. Plus, expect out-of-towners Radicle Effect Brewerks, Lakefront Brewery and more. $50. 1 or 6 p.m. Saturday at Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake St., brownpapertickets.com.
Sip suds with Sue the T-Rex at Chicago Beer Festival
If you’ve ever dreamed of hanging out at the museum after hours with a beer in hand, now’s your chance. The Field Museum opens its doors to beer lovers this weekend with dozens of local and domestic pours. And with 40 taster vouchers per fest-goer, you should probably go ahead and pre-order a pizza for later. $45-$55. 8 p.m. (7 p.m. VIP)-11 p.m. Saturday at the Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Dr., thechicagobeerfestival.com.
Educate your palate at Windy City Brewhaha
Beer enthusiasts of all levels are invited to cozy up in the West Loop and sip suds from over 30 breweries, including Tocayo Brewing Company, 2 Fools Cider, Finch Beer Co. and Burnt City Brewing. Turn up with tastings from CH Distillery, Crafthouse Cocktails and Chicago Distilling Company. $52. 1-4 p.m. or 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Revel Fulton Market, 1215 W. Fulton St., windycitybrewhaha.com.
